How to make your graphics look more professional in an instant.
Welcome to a new series!
So, I have been wondering – what can I do to help mystics in this world of business? Like, PRACTICALLY? As in, real, actionable things?
It's a tough one. Cause I think us mystics are reeeeeally good at being philosophers, dreamers, and visionaries. We love to hang out in the ideation phase, and if you're anything like me, you wouldn't mind hanging out there a little longer.
But truth be told: even mystics need to get their hands dirty at some point.Especially mystic entrepreneurs who are here to build a legacy.
With that said, let's get going with the very first practical branding tip that will actually help you improve your aesthetics in no time. Ready?
How to make your graphics look more professional in an instant
NO 1 – LESS IS MORE
My favourite of them all, and a tough one to manage sometimes – cause you love all these fonts, illustrations, images, and whatever else you find on Canva that looks cute.
But honestly: the more you put into a design, the more you distract from its core message. Therefore – less is more.
With every new font/illustration/image you introduce to a creation, ask yourself: is this essential? If it’s a no, get rid of it, and see simplicity work its magic.
NO 2 – MAKE IT LEGIBLE
Got to admit, this is something I struggle with to this day – because don’t we all get obsessed with arty fonts that are poetic beyond measure and delight our souls, but when we’re really honest, they’re, excuse my language, a ball ache to read?
Well, I am guilty for sure.
Best bet: pick fonts that people can actually read without squinting, guessing, or praying that whatever exciting stuff you’ve written about is also in the caption of your Instagram post (or wherever else you share your graphics).
NO 3 – HUNT FOR ALIGNMENT
Take this one literally: find the lines, and follow them. Where are the invisible lines that you can use to make your design look balanced?
For example: have your title and paragraph start neatly aligned with where your logo is sitting. Put that image nicely in line with where the paragraph starts or ends.
The eye loves visual consistency, and even though the changes might not seem too obvious at first, it instantly makes your design look less clunky and more easy on the eye.
